Fighting Seeds

Berlin-based collective · founded 2024

Who We Are

Fighting Seeds is a Berlin-based collective of activists, dreamers, cultural mediators, musicians, poets, botanists, visual artists, and filmmakers. We come from different lands, languages, and memories.

What brings us together is a shared belief: seeds carry memory, resistance, and the potential of a landscape.

We work through social imagination, ecological thinking, artistic research, situated rituals, community practices, and the politics of care. Our practice was born from a simple idea: to empower people to bring seeds, care for them, and taste them in the form of a dish and a story. It is a different way of doing activism, one where people engage with soil, nature, and gardening as a form of healing, while the act of gardening is also politicised as a form of activism and solidarity with those dispossessed from their land. Caring for a seed from an occupied land like Palestine can become a place of grieving and empowerment. Founded in 2024, Fighting Seeds keeps growing with every new voice that joins.

What We Do

Community Gardening

We tend a growing patch at the Westfeld Garden (Feld Food Forest, Tempelhofer Feld) in Berlin. Garden days usually happen on Fridays in summer from 15:00 to 18:00. We collaborate with other gardens in Berlin and beyond. We always post updates on Telegram and Instagram to confirm any changes, so check there before coming.

Community Garden Support

One of our goals is to build a network of gardens working with SWANA seeds and communities. We bring our methodology and support the initial phase of each new space, monitoring from time to time, while gardens maintain their own autonomy and agency.

Seed Sharing & Conservation

In some cases we donate seeds with the idea of reproducing them and sharing them back again, but usually we bring seeds together with a methodology to ensure the garden is created with aligned values and proper care for the seeds. We are also happy to receive heirloom seed donations, which we protect and reproduce as living archives of agricultural knowledge and cultural memory, until they can freely return to their soil.

Workshops

Multidisciplinary workshops weaving together foraging, somatic practices, cooking, storytelling, botanical exploration, and collective memory work. Each workshop contributes to our evolving documentary film.
